The Columbus cottonmouths are at it again; Breaking the norm of what professional hockey is use to.

The SPHL announced on November 17th, that the Columbus Cottonmouths in partnership with USA Hockey that “two female referees with extensive international experience” will be officiating the Cottonmouths’ game against the Fayetteville Fireantz on Friday, November 21st.

Erin Blair and Katie Guay are hoping to lead the way for female referees in professional hockey leagues.

Cottonmouths Assistant Coach, John Bierchen, shared his thoughts on the matter, “It is always good to have the opportunity to grow the game. Both Erin and Katie have extensive experience both in college, and internationally.
